Benoît Dubuis has more than of more than 30 years in the Life Sciences, both in industry and academia. Following his engineering training, his doctorate from ETH Zurich (ETH Medal 1995) and academic activities at Cambridge and Cranfield in England, he has held various management positions in pharmaceutical companies (Chemap, Ciba-Geigy/Novartis, Lonza), before joining the the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where he founded the Faculty of Life Sciences and served as its first dean.
In 2004, he co-founded and became Director of Eclosion, Switzerland’s first incubator and start-up fund in the Life Sciences (www.eclosion.com). Over the years, Benoît has been active with numerous pharmaceutical companies and biotech associations, and founded a number of companies, including Excellgene, GenKyoTex and GeNeuro, the last two of which are listed on the stock exchange.
In June 2013, he was appointed Director of the Fondation Campus Biotech Geneva and Director of Development at the Wyss Center.
In 2015, he was appointed a member of the of Technical Sciences and is Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva.
Benoît also shares his experience in boards and scientific councils. In May 2022, he was appointed President of the of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences support and accompany Swiss technological development in a global context. In this capacity, Benoît Dubuis is also involved at both European (Euro-Case) and worldwide (CAETS).
He is also Chairman of the Inartis Foundation, which manages various programs, including the Health Valley cluster, Les Clefs du Savoir Editions and the following incubators/accelerators: MassChallenge, Espace Création and UniverCité/Station R.
